Refinery grant to help upgrade tornado sirens
Phillips 66 Wood River Refinery is donating $250,000 to replace tornado sirens in Hartford, Roxana, South Roxana and Wood River, Illinois, and ATI will be providing the systems. Read Full Story

Indian Point's emergency siren system sounds without problems during test
The results are in after the latest round of testing for Indian Point's emergency siren system. Officials say all of the alarms sounded without any problems. All of the plant's 172 emergency sirens were tested at full volume for around four minutes at 10:30 a.m. in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Orange counties. Read Full Story

Del City to install new tornado warning system
Del City, Oklahoma, is currently installing a new warning system to be ready in time for tornado season. The project, funded by a $200,000 bond issue, includes eight ATI Systems solar powered sirens. They are capable of broadcasting pre-recorded messages and, if necessary, live messages from city emergency personnel, a capability which the current system does not have. Read Full Story

The Southeast Missourian reports that the residents of Poplar Bluff will soon be better alerted to impending severe weather as crews continue installing seven new early warning sirens around town.  The project uses ATI Systems equipment and includes upgrading and moving their existing sirens as well as installing the new ones. Read Full Story

Dane County upgrading emergency warning system
NBC15 and Channel3000, both out of Madison, Wisconsin, reported about progress on ATI's upgrade of Dane County's emergency warning system. Once upgraded, the warning system will only sound sirens in areas directly affected by the storm, and the warning will be supplemented by reverse-911 phone calls, email messages, SMS/texts and web updates. Read Full Story

Unlike the General Mills property, the site for the new World Trade Center (WTC) complex in New York needed special security during reconstruction. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s reconstruction is underway with ambitious plans for five new skyscrapers, a memorial park and museum, a new transportation hub, a retail complex and a performing arts center. The safety and security of the construction and planning team are paramount. What was needed was a unique emergency warning system on the site. The system from ATI will provide audible alerts and intelligible voice commands through its outdoor speaker system. In case of any hazardous event, weather-related or man-made emergency that requires an evacuation or relocation from the various construction zones within the site, the system will immediately notify the construction and planning team.

Emergency alert sirens coming to Hoboken Terminal
As a security measure, Hudson County is installing 31 emergency sirens throughout the county, including some in Hoboken. The Board of Hudson County Freeholders awarded a $795,000 contract earlier this month to Kevco Electric Co., of Bloomfield, and Acoustic Technology, Inc., of Boston, to install the sirens at transit centers and elsewhere, reports today's Jersey Journal. The cost is being covered by a 2006 homeland security grant.
