NITTTR CHANDIGARH

In realization of the need for training better quality technicians to meet the large scale industrialization of the country, the ministry of Human Resource Development (the then Ministry of Education), Government of India established four Regional Technical Teachers' Training Institutes (now National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, NITTTR at Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai and Kolkata in 1967. The Institute at Chandigarh is one of these four NITTTRs, started in collaboration with Royal Netherlands Government (upto 1974). It was designed to meet the requirements of developing polytechnic education in the northern region covering the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh. The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and is managed by a Board of Governors.

 

CGCRI KOLKATA

Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI) originally proposed to be named as Central Glass & Silicate Research Institute is one of the first four laboratories decided to be set up under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, the other three being National Chemical Laboratory,Pune; National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi and Central Fuel Research Institute, Dhanbad. Even though it started functioning in a limited way in 1944, the Institute was formally inaugurated on August 26, 1950.

 

IISC BANGALORE

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was founded in 1909 as a result of the joint efforts of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the Government of India, and the Maharaja of Mysore. In 1886, Jamsetji Tata conceived of a university of science that will work for the benefit of India, and in 1898 created an endowment for establishing such an institution. The Government of India then took up the effort, and, in consultation with scientists in England and in India, decided to locate the Institute in Bangalore, where the Maharaja of Mysore, Shri Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, donated 372 acres of land. The Institute was formally vested in 1909, the foundation stone was laid in 1911, and the first batch of students started their studies in the same year.

 

CSIR CHANDIGARH

Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), India was constituted in 1942 as an autonomous body under the provision of the Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1860. After independence, the need for bettering the living standards of the common man by promoting industry and for helping the industry to solve its problems through stimulus of scientific research was greatly stressed. The Council, through its constituent laboratories, has helped the country in increasing the economic growth and industrialization.

 

DRDO JODHPUR

Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur (DLJ) was established in May 1959 to deal with the problems related to environmental condition in desert and their impact on desert warfare. The initial charter allotted to the laboratory was: "Undertaking field trials on weapons and equipment which were either newly designed or developed in the country or were being manufactured indigenously with imported know-how, besides conducting basic research as applicable in the arid zone, physiological studies, Radio-wave propagation studies and solar energy."

Solid State Physics Laboratory (sspl), one of the establishments under the Defence R&D Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence,was established in 1962 with the broad objective of developing an R&D base in the field of Solid State Materials, Devices and Sub-systems.

 

LASTEC DELHI

Laser Science & Technology Centre (LASTEC), Delhi has its origin as Defence Science Laboratory (DSL) established as a nucleus laboratory of DRDO in 1952. In the beginning DSL operated from National Physical Laboratory (NPL) building. Later in 1960, it was shifted to Metcalfe House. In 1982, the DSL moved to its new technical building in Metcalfe House complex and was renamed as Defence Science Centre (DScC). In 1999, in view of the R&D thrust shifting to development of lasers and optoelectronics systems & related technologies, the laboratory was rechristened as Laser Science & Technology Center (LASTEC). With time, many of DSL activities were given to newly formed, specialised DRDO laboratories. DSL has served as a precursor for as many as 15 present DRDO labs, which include DRDL, SSPL, INMAS, FRL, ISSA, DESIDOC, CFEES, SAG and ITM.

 

IIT DELHI

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (abbreviated IIT Delhi or IITD) is a public research university located in Delhi, India. It was declared to be Institute of National Importance by Government of India under IIT Act. IIT JODHPUR

The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur, IITJ), is a public university located in Jodhpur in the state of Rajasthan in India. MNIT JAIPUR

The college was established in 1963 with the name as Malaviya Regional Engineering College, Jaipur as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan, Subsequently; on June 26, 2002 the college has been given the status of National Institute of Technology and on 15 August 2007, Proclaimed Institute of National Importance through Act of Parliament. The Institute is fully funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. More than 12,000 students have already been graduated since its establishment.

 

SVNIT SURAT

This Institute was established in 1961 as one of the RECs for imparting technical education in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. In the year 1983- 84 the Under Graduate programmes in Electronics Engineering was introduced and in the year 1988-89 the UG programmes in Computer Engineering and Production Engineering was started. In the year 1995-96, UG programme in Chemical Engineering was introduced. In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, the Central Government on the advice of the University Grants Commission, has declared the Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology (SVREC), Surat to Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat with status of “Deemed University” with effect from 4th December 2002. The Institute has been granted the status of ‘Institute of National Importance’ w.e.f. Aug. 15, 2007. At present, the Institute is offering Six UG Programmes, Eighteen PG Programmes and Three M.Sc. Five Years Integrated Programme including doctoral programme in all above branches.

 

NIT PATNA

National Institute of Technology Patna is the 18th National Institute of Technology created by the Ministry of H.R.D. Government of India after rechristening the erstwhile Bihar College of Engineering Patna on 28. 01. 2004. NIT Patna marked its humble beginning in 1886 with the establishment of pleaders survey training school which was subsequently promoted of Bihar College of Engineering Patna in 1924. This made this institute the 6th Oldest Engineering Institute of India. The graduate level curriculum was later elevated to the post graduate level in 1978. The institute is situated on the south bank of holy river Ganges behind Gandhi Ghat, one of the most important and reverential place of Patna. The Gandhi Ghat is associated with the immersion of ashes of father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in the river Ganges. The campus has a picturesque river view with historic building presenting a spectacle of architectural delight and natural beauty.

NIT AGARTALA

The Institute is being adminstered by the Director of the Institute with direct supervision of Board of Governors (BOG) headed by Chairman as the Institute is registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860. The policy for academic activity will be made through Senate with prior approval of the Board of Governors and implemented through Dean (Academic).

 

NIT SRINAGAR

GNDEC LUDHIANA

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, one of the prestigious, oldest and minority institution of Northern India, was established under the aegis of Nankana Sahib Education Trust (NSET) in 1956. NSET was founded in memory of the most sacred temple of Nankana Sahib, birth place of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Amritsar, a premier organization of universal brotherhood, which is the main force behind the mission of "Removal of Economic Backwardness through Technology" and NSET with the same mission, established a Polytechnic in 1953 and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) in 1956. The Trust deed was registered on 24th February 1953 with a commitment by Nankana Sahib Education Trust to uplift the vast weaker section of Indian polity comprising Rural India by admitting 70% students every year from Rural Areas. This commitment was made to the nation on 8th April, 1956. The day when foundation stone of the College was laid by Late Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji, the First President of India.

 

GNDU AMRITSAR

Guru Nanak Dev University was established at Amritsar on November 24, 1969 to mark the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is both a residential and an affiliating university. In conceiving the future course of the University, the objectives enshrined in the Guru Nanak Dev University Act 1969, emphasised that the new University would make provision for imparting education and promoting research in the humanities, learned professions, sciences, especially of applied nature and technology

 

PEC CHANDIGARH

The PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was orginally established as Mugalpura Engineering College at Lahore (now in Pakistan) on November 9, 1921. The name of the college was later changed to Maclagan Engineering College and its started functioning under the name on March 19, 1924. In the year 1931, the college got affiliated to Punjab University, Lahore. After partition in 1947, the college was shifted to Roorkee (India) and was renamed as East Punjab College of Engineering. In the year 1950 the word East was dropped and it came to know by its present name – Punjab Engineering College. Towards the end of December 1953, the college shifted to its present campus in Chandigarh to function under Govt. of Punjab. In 1966, with the formation of Union Territory of Chandigarh, the college same under control of Govt. of India through Chandigarh Administration. In October 2003, the Govt. of India notified the Punjab Engineering College as a Deemed to be University and thereafter it became known as Punjab Engineering College ( Deemed University)

 

SLIET Longowal

Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET), established by the Government of India, provides technical education in emerging areas of Engineering & Technology.
